Winkfield is a communicator with a myriad of experiences that continues to evolve him as a professional. Currently, Winkfield is a graduate student at West Virginia University studying Integrated Marketing Communications. He also serves as the program’s Marketing Graduate Assistant where he is responsible for planning, executing and evaluating marketing-related projects such as event planning, exhibiting and direct marketing initiatives.

Dedicated to mastering the field of communications, Winkfield spent his early career exploring many opportunities to develop himself to be dynamic, innovative and creative. Winkfield attended Florida A&M University (FAMU) in Tallahassee, FL where he received a bachelor of science degree in public relations.

10931476_10153058509494329_6604526826114509659_nWinkfield has held many prestigious internships with companies such as Edelman, NBC Universal, Universal Pictures, Bowstern Marketing Communication and Armstrong Creative Consulting.

Currently he sits on the board of director for Greater Pittsburgh Chapter of the Public Relations Society of America. During the 2014 Public Relations Student Society of America National Assembly in Charleston, SC  Winkfield was elected to serve on the national committee as the 2014 – 2015 National Vice President of Advocacy. Prior to this Winkfield served as the Vice-President then President fCurrent 1.20.15 3313or the FAMU Chapter of the Public Relations Society of America where he is most notable for
partnering with senior administrators to implement a number of leadership, mentoring and professional development programs for PR students at FAMU.

 

During Winkfield’s freshman year he was hired as an associate for the PRodigy Public Relations (Student-Run) Firm, making him the youngest hire the company has ever had.  While at PRodigy, Winkfield has supported the media relations, community outreach and social media strategy development for accounts such as:

  • The Florida Congressional Black Caucus
  • Sony Motion Pictures
  • J-School Journals
  • Leaving Up College Outreach Program

His leadership spans far beyond his career in public relations. He serves as an advisor to a small group of non-profits and colleagues looking to expand their brands. Some official positions he’s held in the past include:

  • Vice President of Programs, Collegiate 100 of FAMU
  • Communications Chair, Relay for Life at Florida A&M University
  • Inauguration of FAMU’s 11th president, Dr. Elmira Mangum.
  • Assistant Head Camp Counselor James Jones Legacy Foundation Camp 4 Champs.

Winkfield’s ultimate career goal is to be a Chief Communication Officer for a Fortune 50 company or government agency.
